Campaign Priorities

Tired of voting for the “lesser of two evils”? There is a better way: ranked choice voting. Say goodbye to settling for subpar candidates and hello to a fairer voting process. With ranked choice voting, your vote carries more weight, as you can prioritize your preferences. No more worrying that your vote for an Independent candidate won’t count. It’s time to take back the power and let the community decide who represents them, instead of being dictated by a two-party, duopoly system. Get ready for a voting process that truly represents your voice.

Demand for campaign finance reform in Virginia has reached a critical level. The primary for the 27th district race has highlighted the detrimental impact of unfair financial advantages, as both party nominees are being funded by seemingly bottomless pockets. This situation allows a select few wealthy donors to drown out the voices of the community. To level the playing field, we must establish campaign donation limits for individuals, corporations, and nonprofits. It is imperative that every candidate has an equal opportunity to represent the people, and imposing donation limits is the first step towards a more equitable election process in Virginia.

As a woman who has gone through the difficulties and benefits of having abortions, I understand the significance of protecting access to abortion and broadening the range of care options available for those who choose it. It’s essential not only to codify reproductive rights in Virginia law, but also to expand access to aftercare and other resources through engagement with community groups. These organizations should be impartial and free of religious overtones.

I have the expertise to move our Commonwealth forward with genuine solutions. With my leadership, we’ll stand up for every Virginian’s right to make their own decisions about medical care and reproductive health. Every person, whether dealing with a challenging pregnancy or in need of early termination options like myself when I was leaving an abusive relationship, deserves the freedom to make these deeply personal decisions with the help of their doctor – not with interference from the government.

Virginia’s public schools have long seen inadequate funding, and now legislators in Richmond are threatening to take away even more. But we won’t let that happen! We’ll fight the good fight for proper education resources so that our youth get every opportunity they deserve.

With an education rooted in Fairfax County public schools and seven children gaining valuable knowledge from public education, I’m a passionate advocate for all families having access to quality educational options – whether that be through traditional schooling, private or homeschooling. It’s crucial that students receive personalized opportunities tailored to their individual needs!

Together we can create a brighter future where all children – no matter their background or circumstance – receive targeted investments across the Commonwealth for top-notch schooling provision. Let’s join forces to bring about real change: record investment into Virginia’s public schools plus exploring alternatives for families who choose school choice as an option!

Our 27th Senate District is home to a vibrant mix of city, suburban and rural communities – each with its own unique transportation needs. I have the knowledge required to deliver solutions and much needed funding for our area’s vital infrastructure systems, helping local economies grow and boosting opportunities in our business community.

I am ready to leverage bipartisan relationships and my in-depth knowledge of our region’s transportation needs to secure necessary funding that will benefit everyone in this special hybrid district – from city dwellers, suburbanites and rural folks alike. You can count on me to make sure quality of life improves across all areas while helping local economies thrive from improved public transportation.

With my experience on transportation boards (Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization Policy Board (FAMPO), VRE Policy Board & Potomac Rappahannock Transportation Commission (PRTC)) as well as knowledge specific to our region’s challenges around infrastructure funding gaps, work together towards creating innovative solutions for these pressing problems. Well-funded transportation is the key to unlocking quality of life for all!

Cannabis is a safe and vital medication for a large spectrum of ailments as well as a common recreational substance. Yet, it has been erroneously deemed a dangerous “gateway” drug. Recreational use has been legalized in the Commonwealth, but Virginia has failed to establish parameters for a retail market. This issue has been politicized with the point of contention being where the generated funds will be directed. But, a properly regulated and equitable market will generate significant revenues which can be invested in education and transportation.

With the devastating community impact from the war on drugs, we now have an opportunity to build successful businesses and rebuild those communities. Thos who have been legally affected by prohibition deserve first chance at licensing to run cannabis businesses. A portion of the state tax revenues must be invested in HBCU’s. Moreover, cannabis is a lifesaving treatment for our Veterans. It is also a preferred pain medication over opioids for senior Veterans, and a powerful “exit drug” to empower those who have been impacted by the opioid epidemic to live clean and healthy lives once again.

By providing a fair retail market cannabis, we can pave the way for a brighter, healthier, and more prosperous future for all. It is time for Virginia to take the most ethical and profitable path forward.
